Flue Gas Treatment Plant,
Ferrybridge & Fiddler's Ferry

Description

Lentjes GmbH was contracted to construct flue gas treatment plants at Ferrybridge & Fiddler's Ferry power stations in England. Codema was commissioned to perform the basic and detail engineering design works.  The client is one of the largest British power companies, Scottish & Southern Energy plc (SSE) with headquarters in Perth, Scotland. The flue gas desulphurisation plants were constructed to ensure emissions compliance with European regulations. Each power station consists of four coal fired trains each with a generation capacity of 500MW. On completion of the basic engineering, Lentjes commissioned Codema to undertake the detail engineering which included detail structural analysis, general arrangement and reinforcement plans, foundation general  arrangements as well as piling schemes. Codema's scope encompassed all structures for both schemes and included several buildings, reinforced concrete silos and tanks, with their associated foundations, together with miscellaneous equipment foundations. Both plants commenced service in 2008.
