Ferrybridge / Fiddler's Ferry

Lentjes GmbH was awarded an EPC contract to fit flue gas desulphurisation systems for the power stations Ferrybridge and Fiddler's Ferry in the UK. CODEMA has been commissioned with the civil basic and detail design for both projects.

Both power plants are owned by one of the "Big Six" utilities operating in the energy markets in the UK, Scottish & Southern Energy plc (SSE), who is based in Perth, Scottland. Each plant consists of 4 x 500 MW coal fire boilers. The purpose of the projects is to meet the European Large Combustion Plant Directive requirement of  a 94 % sulphur removal rate.

After the civil basic engineering, CODEMA has also been commissioned with the civil detail design, including structural design and analysis, formwork and reinforcement drawings, coordination drawings for the foundations and pilling design. The planning scope comprises all solid constructions, e. g. several solid buildings, reinforced concrete silos, tank foundations and all foundations for the entire equipment of the new plant. Both plants will be commissioned in 2008.
