Hofgärten at the Brauhausberg

The building complex in the southern part of the state capital Potsdam was built in the 1880s as a brewery of the Hoffmann brothers and was the production site of the Berliner Kindl Brauerei AG until 1995. The now listed building complex is one of the few remaining commercial and industrial buildings in this area. With the purchase of the land and the brewery buildings by Terraplan Grundstücksentwicklungsgesellschaft mbH, a comprehensive energetic redevelopment is planned, which provides for use for residential purposes.

In the context of the construction planning for the energetic renovation, the building physics challenge did not only consist in the energetic modernisation of the listed building sections, but also in the renovation of a fair-faced brickwork, which was to a large extent exposed to moisture and salt, with the specification of minimum costs.
